YEAR 5

Welcome back to the new term. It is exciting to see students coming back into their daily routine after enjoying their much deserved break. Holy month of Ramadan has started and some students are fasting. They are trying their best to get through the day. Happy Ramadan to all families and I hope to see you all at the Iftar Dinner, on the 24th of May, at the G.V. Hotel.

Year 5 students will have NAPLAN from the 14th of May. Please encourage students to type narratives and persuasive texts within 45 minutes at home to prepare them for the upcoming online writing component of the NAPLAN testing. They are used to the traditional paper- pen based writing tasks and computer based writing tests, but a time limit, is new for them.

In English, students have been focusing on the structure of persuasive texts and pronouns. Students have learning strategies to solve multiplication and division sums in Mathematics. Keep revising times tables at home to support their learning and do random testing to increase their speed and accuracy level. Year 5 students must know their times tables up to 12.

Thank you for sparing your time to come and meet teachers for the Parent Teachers Interviews in week two. Follow up the feedback given by teachers during the interviews. We will work together to achieve success and attain desired outcomes for our students.

Thank you for your support and ongoing cooperation.
